Session
Race week
Short, steady sessions for the days before a race.
Race week is when you change little. These sessions are short and at pressure you set, with nothing new tried. Tell your therapist your race date and distance, and they plan the days around it.
30 minutes, brisk
45 minutes, steady
Booked around your race date

What happens
In the room
- 01
Step 1: Check-in
You give the race date and distance, and say what you want left alone.
- 02
Step 2: Settle
You get on the table under the sheet while your therapist is out of the room.
- 03
Step 3: Work
Steady work on the legs at pressure you set. Nothing new, and nothing deep unless you ask.
- 04
Step 4: Finish
You dress, and the desk holds a time for the day after the race if you want one.
Good to know
Pressure, cover and what to bring
Pressure
You set the pressure before the session, and your therapist checks it partway through. Say lighter or firmer at any time.
Draping
You are covered by a sheet or towel the whole session. Only the area being worked is uncovered.
Ask your doctor first
If you have a health condition, are pregnant or are recovering from surgery or an injury, ask your doctor whether massage is right for you before you book.
What to wear and bring
Come in what you ran in. Undress to the level you are comfortable with, and bring shoes that slip on and off.
Questions about this session
How far ahead of a race should I book?
Many runners book three to five days before. Give us the date and we will suggest times.
Will you work deep before a race?
Pressure is yours to set. In race week most sessions stay light to medium, and your therapist will say if they would change anything.
Can I book the day after the race?
Yes. Ask for a recovery-week session, and tell us how the race went.
